the Rustaveli Avenue (downtown) and visits to the
historical places such as: Narikala fortress, Sioni
Cathedral, Anchiskhati basilica, Metekhi church,
Sameba Cathedral. A short coffee-break on
café-street Shardeni with souvenir shopping
possibility. |

DAY 02

TBILISI - MTSKHETA -
UPLISTSIKHE - ATENIS SIONI- TBILISI
Breakfast at the hotel. Sightseeing and wine tasting in
Kartli region:

Proceed to
Mtskheta - the ancient capital of Georgia and the
important religious centre. It is situated at the
convergence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi Rivers. There
are a number of very significant archaeological and
religious monuments in and around the town. You will
visit Jvari church (6th c.), Svetitskhoveli
Cathedral (11th c.) and have a short sightseeing
walk in the city itself. Lunch in a Georgian
restaurant "Aragvi" or similar. Drive to Uplistsikhe
cave town, which is one of the oldest places of
settlement in the Caucasus. It was founded in the
late Bronze Age, (around 900 BC), but developed
mainly from the 5th century to the 1st centuries BC.
Before Georgia became a Christian country, this was
a special site for pagan rituals. The main caravan
road from Asia to Europe used to run just 2km
northern of the city, which became a very important
trade centre. The area around Uplistsikhe is
legendary for its vineyards. The visit will be
followed by an excursion to the Atenis Sioni
Cathedral in the village of Ateni, where "Atenury"
wine is made in every family and you will have a
chance to taste it. |

DAY 03

TBILISI - TELAVI
(KAKHETI REGION)
Breakfast at the hotel. Full day trip with sightseeing and
wine tastings:

Kakheti is
synonymous with wine. There are hundreds of
different grapes grown here, and every village has
its own particular variety, from whites like the
Kisi and Rkatsiteli to the incredibly multifaceted
Saperavi. You will drive through the beautiful
landscape of vineyards and wine-producing villages
of this region and the first stop will be in
Alaverdi Cathedral (11th c.) - the second tallest
religious building in Georgia with a height of over
55 meters, located on the Alazani Valley, 20 km from
Telavi. After the excursion in Alaverdi and the
monastery wine cellar (16th c.), restored by "Badagoni"
wine company, a scheduled visit to "Badagoni" wine
factory and lunch with Georgian wines tasting.
Sightseeing tour of Telavi, the main city and
administrative center of Kakheti, and afterwards -
proceed to the historic village of Nafareuli,
located under the slopes of Caucasus Mountains,
where river Lopota joins river Alazani. You will
visit the "Old Cellar", the restored ancestral wine
cellar of twin brothers where you can taste "Bio
wine" from the pitcher at the moment of opening it
and enjoy traditional Kakhetian feast with a
toast-maker called "Tamada" and in the company of
folk-song singers near the fireplace. |

DAY 04

KAKHETI REGION:
TSINANDALI and SIGNAGI
Breakfast at the hotel. The second day of Kakheti
sightseeing with wine tasting:

After breakfast
you will enjoy a short walking tour on fresh air
near the lake Lopota that is famous for its
beautiful surroundings and views. Then we proceed to
Tsinandali - a village noted for the estate and its
historic winery which once belonged to the
19th-century aristocratic poet Alexander Chavchavadze. You will have an excursion in the
family museum and a walk in the park beautifully
laid out in an English style with fine views and
exotic plants. Afterwards - visit and wine tasting
in Tsinandali Wine Factory, where the collection of
the best Georgian oldest wines is kept.
Drive to Signagi - a small beautiful city in Kiziqi
(part of Kakheti region), famous for its winery and
rich harvest. Signagi is a rare example of historic
city which kept its style during the centuries with
open traditional balconies, unique fortress with
churches built in it and towers. The city overlooks
the Alazani valley and opens to visitors the
magnificent views of the Great Caucasus Range. Visit
to the Monastery of Bodbe - final resting place of
Saint Nino, "Enlightener of Georgians", who preached
Christianity in Georgia with a vine cross in her
hand. In the evening - dinner in a local restaurant.
Visitors will be given a possibility to participate
in baking process of traditional bread "shoti" in
the clay oven and taste "chacha" (Georgian vodka). |

DAY 05

SIGNAGI -
TBILISI
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Tbilisi:

After
the hotel accommodation an excursion and cognac
degustation in Sarajishvili Cognac Factory, where
some Georgian cognacs of the 19th century are still
kept. Lunch and a visit to The Open Air Museum which
exposes 14 ethnographic zones with its architectural
monuments and ethnographic materials - different
kinds of tools, textile and ceramics. It was founded
in 1966 by George Chitaia, a famous Georgian
ethnographer and academician, whose name it now
bears. It is located in Tbilisi, to the west of
"Turtle Lake" and occupies 65 hectares of land.

DAY 06

TBILISI - GORI -
AMBROLAURI - NIKORTSMINDA - KUTAISI
Breakfast at the hotel. Proceed to Racha region, lunch en
route:

On the
way to Ambrolauri (Racha region) we will make a stop
and sightseeing tour in Gori - an ancient city which
is also linked to being the birthplace of Joseph
Stalin.
Racha is a historic province and one of the most
beautiful highland regions in the northwestern part
of Georgia. This region, especially the lowlands of
Ablorauli, is also famous for growing Aleksandrouli,
Tetra and Mojuretuli grapes, the basis, among
others, for the Khvanchkara semi-sweet red wine. You
will visit the settlement of Bugeuli, where the
Company Aleksandreuli owns a plant of primary
treatment and bottling. The plant is equipped with
modern technologies and the leader wines of
Khvanchkara, Alexandreuli and Tetra are produced
here. Khvanchkara wine tasting.
The main places of tourists' interests are
concentrated in this district as well. After the
excursion you will visit Nikortsminda - a domed
church built in 1010-1014 by King Bagrat III and the
peak of sculptural decoration of Georgian cathedrals
and will enjoy a short rest on fresh air at the
splendid Lake of Shaori. |

to Kutaisi and hotel accommodation. Dinner.

DAY 07

KUTAISI
- TBILISI
Breakfast at the hotel. Half-day tour Kutaisi and
surroundings:

Kutaisi is one
of the most beautiful and ancient Georgian cities
situated in West Georgia on both banks of the
picturesque Rioni river. Visit to Gelati - once a
major centre of enlightenment in Georgia, founded by
King Davit Aghmashenebeli (David the Builder) in
1106 that represents the flourishing medieval
architecture in Georgia. The tomb of Davit
Aghmashenebeli is located in the porch to the south
of the precinct wall. Visit to Bagrati Temple ruins
- the cross-domed, tri-conch Cathedral located on
the top of Ukimerioni Hill, built in the 11th
century. The cathedral is distinguished for its
elegant proportions, grand size, facade composition,
ornaments and relief carvings. Return to Tbilisi,
lunch en route. |
In
the evening - a farewell party in Georgian restaurant
with folk music and dancers.
